How do you make a stainless steel work of art?

Stainless steel art commissions , free work   or garden statues

It is challenging for an artist to carry out an art assignment. There is often a specific wish for a work of art in the garden (garden statues), entrance or as an award or (wedding) gift.It is different from making so-called free work , but not necessarily less free. Or as Goethe said: In der Beschränkung zeigt sich erst der Meister .

A design for a stainless steel art statue

To a stainless steel art sculpture make you have a design need . Sketches– on a newspaper or napkin – for a sculptor usually starting point . If there is something in it that appeals, the next phase will come.

The sketch must be translated or visualized into a three-dimensional form. This can be done in several ways: neat and with a small model of inexpensive sculpture materials like wax, plaster or cardboard. Nowadays it’s also possible to make a 3D model with a computer and print it  it on a 3D printer.

Stainless steel sculpture Prototype or Mock-up

If you like the small model of the artwork; or if I like the 3D artist’s impression , I first make the design of the stainless steel sculpture in full size from cheap material. Think of sculptural materials such as cardboard, clay, wood or plaster. The life-size art statue gives a good impression of the proportions. You can also immediately see whether the stainless steel sculpture or work of art does not look too large or small.

For stainless steel art you use a variety of metal processing techniques. When the design has crystallized and the proportions are correct, we give the stainless steel sculpture its final shape by processing the stainless steel . Processing techniques include rolling, cutting, tapping, setting and / or welding. The stainless steel material I use to make the stainless steel sculpture are stainless steel sheet metal and stainless steel profiles . Materials  that you as a sculptor – Stainless artist use.

Finish stainless steel art

Beautiful stainless steel art deserves a nice finish. You cannot make a beautiful image if the finish is not top notch. My stainless steel sculptures always get a beautiful and appropriate finish. The skin of the stainless steel can be ground smooth and then polished like a mirror with a deep and high gloss. A beautiful stainless steel sculpture that shines like a mirror in the sunlight is dazzlingly beautiful. The contrast between the high-gloss parts and the consciously matted parts give the image extra tension. It makes it fascinating to look at the art object. Sanding or brushing stainless steel without direction can also be very nice.

Quality stainless steel sculptures

To ensure that the sculptures remain beautiful, I use the best quality stainless steel. The used stainless steel of stainless steel Sculptures has the quality 316 (stainless steel 316) which is suitable for the most severe conditions. This means that an art sculpture also remains beautiful outside. Stainless steel works of art can therefore be placed inside the home or office as well as outside in the garden or public space.

Besides on the Internet some of my art images and sculptures can also be found in various sculpture gardens and galleries .   Call  in advance to make an appointment  and hear whether the sculpture in which you are interested is there  exhibited .
